Hopton C of E Primary Academy

Special Educational Needs

At Hopton C of E Primary Academy, we are an inclusive school and have an assess, plan, do, review approach. We aim to identify needs early and the SENDCo works closely with class teachers and support staff to meet the children's needs through plans, additional resources and adapted teaching methods. We access support through the Specialist Education Service (SES) to support our approaches. We meet regularly with parents where your child is on the SEND register to join up our approaches and effectively meet the needs of all children.

Our SENDCo at Hopton C of E Primary Academy is: Ms Justine Buckley.

Please contact the school office at office@hoptonacademy.co.uk or on 01953 681449 if you would like to speak to the SENDCo about your child.

Support for Parents - SENDIASS

In Suffolk, parents with children who have additional needs, can seek support from SENDIASS ( Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service). They provide unbiased information and advice about the local authority’s policies and procedures, about health services and provision in relation to SEND, and about the policy and practice in local schools and other settings.

You may find the answer to some of your questions by looking through their information on site and through their social media channels. They have some downloadable leaflets and factsheets. If you are still unable to find the answers you require you can contact their team directly, through the 'contact page'.

Support for Mental Health

Suffolk Children and Young People's Emotional Wellbeing Hub can be accessed using this link

The Emotional Wellbeing Hub Service provides access to mental health services for children and young people aged 0-25, in East and West Suffolk. It provides access to NHS Children and Adolescence Mental Health Services (CAMHS). Parents and carers can make referrals if they are concerned about the mental health of a child or young person aged 0-25 years. Or you can speak to your GP who can make the referral on your behalf. We also work with the Mental Health Support Team and can make referrals at school as well.

You may also find Suffolk Family Hubs useful - they run a service for 0-19 (to 25 if SEND) and are a place for families, parents, carers and young people in Suffolk to find support and advice. They have specific SEND events.
